It was an entertaining fight from begining to end, where Overeem landed a front-kick to the chin followed by a left hand that dropped Arlovski to the canvas, where a barrage of strikes that followed were enough for the referee to halt the action. The victory makes it three in a row for Overeem inside the Octagon, with three of those victories coming by way of T/KO. He now stands in line to take on the winner of this weekends Fabricio Werdum vs Stipe Miocic Heavyweight title bout. Stefan Struve earns Performance of the Night honors for his first round knockout of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. The Brazilian bumrushed Struve and paid dearly by taking a knee and falling to his knees, where “The Skyscraper” emptied out a tank of elbows to end the fight. It took him seventeen seconds to add another highlight to his reel and make an impressive return to the win column in what is a razor-thin heavyweight division in the UFC. Gunnar Nelson earns Performance of the Night for his second round rear naked choke submission of Russian welterweight prospect our of New Jersey, Albert “Einstein” Tumenov. He was unable to get under Tumenov’s chin but his squeeze was tight enough to force the Russian to tap. The impressive, highlight-reel finish puts Nelson back in the win column at 170-pounds and he will likely crack the division’s top 10 with the victory. Germaine De Randamie earns Performance of the Night for her impressive first round TKO finish of promotional newcomer Anna Elmose. The victory puts “The Iron Lady” at two in a row in the UFC’s 135-pound division and fight fans eagerly await her next Octagon outing.
