MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson, who successfully defended his title last week (April 23, 2016) against Henry Cejudo at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pound-for-pound best fighter in the world made quick work of Cejudo and did it in dominant fashion. He explained how he was able to so successfully thwart his previously unbeaten opponent:
“I didn’t even get hit once. The only damage I took was me throwing knees on him and our knees clashed together. Other than that, there were no punches that landed on my face. That’s just from my head movement, my footwork, and also he hit me with an inside trip when I switched to southpaw. Those are the only things that landed from my moving around, switching head movement, changing elevation, keeping my head close in the clinch, throwing elbows to create space to hit him, no damage man. That’s what mixed martial arts is about, going out there and not taking damage. I’m 29 years old and I want to make sure I retire with my brain.”
