The First Direct Arena in Leeds features boxing this Saturday night, April 16th, as promoter Eddie Hearn returns with an 11-fight show that sees the main events air onSKY TV in the U.K. The complete live event has eleven fights in all with three of them already posted at the sport books. Featherweight – 12 rounds Hisashi Amagasa +525 Josh Warrington -750 Warrington (22-0) is the undefeated titleholder from Leeds. Amagasa is a strong veteran fighter who has only lost one fight in the last five years, to Guillermo Rigondeaux. In tat fight, Amgasa came close to shocking the world as he scored two knock downs on Rigondeaux in round seven. This is Amagasa’s first fight outside of his home country of Japan, and the trip alone is long and grueling. Warrington is now 25 years old and this will be the second defense of his International title. Warrington is a light hitter, with just four KO’s in his six year career, while Amagasa has some pop, ending twenty of his fights within the time limit. Warrington is making his first foray into truly international competition, having beaten Australia’s Joel Brunker in his last outing. Besides Rigondeaux however, both fighters are brought up on mainly regional competition and both need a win to move onto the world stage. Bantamweight – 12 rounds – Stuart Hall -120 Rodrigo Guerrero +100 The evening’s co-feature comes to us with the closest line of the fights so far, as Hall and Guerrero is near pick ’em. Guerrero (24-5-1) is a veteran out of Mexico City who has faced strong competition on his way up the ladder. He is on a five fight winning streak since losing a unanimous decision to Daiki Kameda (28-3) in Japan back in September of 2013. Back in December of 2013 HallWon the vacant IBF world title with a UD win over Vusi Malinga, but he was not able to hold onto his belt, going 0-2-1 in subsequent title fights. Hall has won three fights in a row at Super Bantamweight since his October of 2014 loss to Randy Caballero saw him lose the world title at Bantamweight. Cruiserweight – six rounds Russ Henshaw +1200 Isaac Chamberlain -2250 This is a six round bout that sees a pair of undefeated young Cruiserweights face off. Chamberlain is 4-0 winning all his bouts by going the distance, while Henshaw is at 6-0 and has two KOs to his resume.
