The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) went to Croatia for the first time in promotional history, producing a night of solid action, and with the entertaining night of scraps in our rear-view, let’s take a look at which of the evenings competitors we may no longer see in action inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Gabriel Gonzaga Gonzaga snapped a three fight losing streak back in December with a lackluster unanimous decision win over Konstantin Erokhin, and in an attempt to make it two in a row inside the Octagon, he took on Derrick Lewis at this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night 86 in Croatia, but unfortunately suffered a first round knockout, dropping to 1-4 in his last five Octagon outings. I think it is more likely than he will get another fight in the UFC, but it definitely would not surprise me to see the UFC part ways with the veterwan heavyweight, considering he is 1-4 in his last five and the fact that his lone victory was very uneventful. Igor Pokrajac The UFC needed a popular Croatian fighter for their inaugral trip to Croatia, especially after Mirko Cro Cop fell out. Pokrajac returned for his second stint with the UFC to take on Poland’s Jan Blachwicz, and after getting the better of the Pole in the first frame, he ended up losing a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards following the full 15 scheduled minutes of action. Pokrajac certainly did more than was expected of him, but ultimately came up short. I think it is possible that this could be a “one and done” deal for the Croatian fighter, but I think it is more likely that they will give him another fight, likely on another European card.
