With today’s announcement of Cris “Cyborg” Justino making her UFC debut, the upcoming UFC 198 event just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The event is already headlined by a UFC heavyweight title bout between champion Fabricio Werdum and challenger Stipe Miocic (which we opened earlier this month). A middleweight number one contender bout between former champion Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza is also expected to take place. Both Brazilians are at the top of the heap at 185 pounds and Souza was literally one or two good punches away from earning a shot at the belt this past December. Fellow Brazilian Demian Maia will also look to continue his recent run of success as he squares off against the incredibly game and dangerous veteran Matt Brown in a welterweight scrap. That leaves us with three bouts which are having their odds opened today. The first is the quick turnaround of former middleweight and pound for pound kingpin Anderson Silva, as he squares off opposite highlight reel showstopper Uriah Hall. Silva is on the heels of a crushing decision loss to Michael Bisping late last month and is looking for redemption. Former light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua was expected to battle Rashad Evans at UFC 197, but will instead take on surging prospect and TUF season 19 winner Corey Anderson. Anderson is coming off a close decision win at UFC 196 while Shogun pulled out a victory over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 190 last August. Last but not least is the debut of “Cyborg.” The typically featherweight Justino will be dropping down to a 140 pound catchweight as she squares off opposite Leslie Smith, who was recently victorious via decision just one and a half weeks ago at UFC Fight Night 85 in Brisbane. MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas opened three new bouts for the card today via Several Bookmakers.
