UFC Fight Night 84 produced an entertaining night of action. Now with the fun night of scraps in our rear-view, let’s take a look at which of the evenings competitors we may no longer see in action inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Chris Dempsey Dempsey suffered a first round knockout against Scott Askham at this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 48 in London, making it back to back first round knockot defeats for the American. He is now 1-3 inside the Octagon and all three of his losses were first round knockouts. Although, it is worth noting that two of them came in the light heavyweight division, and he is in fact a natural middleweight. Sandwiched between the defeats is a split decision win over Eddie Gordon, which came at 185-pounds. Had he not taken fights at light heavyweight, perhaps he would have stuck around longer, but at this point, I think there is a good chance the UFC sends him the pink slip. Yaotzin Meza Meza is now 2-4-1 NC in the UFC after this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 84 unanimous decision loss to undefeated propsect Arnold Allen. He is a solid veteran and respected team member of Glendale, AZ’s The MMA Lab, but he has not had much luck in the UFC, suffering losses in both the bantamweight and featherweight division. His best Octagon outing, in my opinion, came last year in Poland against promotional newcomer Damian Stasian, whom he deteaded via unanimous decision on the judes’ scorecards in his return to 145-pounds. He has dropped two straight bouts since that contest and now stands a good chance of being released by the promotion.
