In what felt like a hastily thrown together event last night (Friday, February 26, 2016), Bellator 150 had some fighters step up after the main event title fight was scrapped on just 24 hours’ notice. Overall, on the night three betting favorites were victorious while one underdog picked up wins based on Several Bookmakers‘s closing odds. Bellator 150 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, heavyweight Cheick Kongo appeared to be on his way to slogging through a victory, but Vinicius Queiroz nearly took the fight back with a takedown in the latter half of round two and then another takedown in round three followed up by a late knockdown that nearly ended the fight. One judge somehow was blind and gave all three rounds to Kongo, but the other two were split with 29-28 scores both ways, which allowed Kongo to win the decision. Kongo was victorious as a -120 (Bet $120 to win $100) favorite while Queiroz couldn’t quite pull it out as a +110 (Bet $100 to win $110) underdog. In a lightweight bout, David Rickels bounced back in a big way from his tough loss to Michael Chandler, crushing Bobby Cooper via first round TKO with heavy strikes on the ground. Rickels came through as a monster -605 betting favorite while Cooper was defeated as a +505 underdog. In a middleweight bout, Kendall Grove overcame a close personal tragedy to get back in the win column against a game Francisco France. France controlled the first round with some heavy leg kicks, but Grove was having none of that in the second round, quickly closing the distance and knocking France clean out with a huge right hand after backing his opponent into the fence. Grove pulled out the victory at -125 while France was a +115 dog. Bellator 150 Underdogs that Won In the opening bout of the main card, women’s flyweights duked it out as Rebecca Ruth battled Lena Ovchynnikova. Ruth controlled nearly every aspect of the fight, reversing takedowns, pushing Ovchynnikova into the fence, going for submissions and even dropping the Ukrainian in the second round. The judges sided with Ruth via unanimous decision when it was all said and done. Ruth pulled out the victory as a +165 underdog while Ovchynnikova lost at -175.
