Prior to each UFC card, Jay Primetown takes a close look at debuting fighters. Matchup with Daniel Omielanczuk For his first fight in the UFC, Jarjis Danho is paired against one of the lowest rated fighters in the division in Daniel Omielanczuk. The Syrian fighter will have a significant size advantage in the octagon. He’ll have a three inch height and a 20+ pound advantage on fight night. While Danho doesn’t possess one punch knockout power, he’s strong enough to push the Polish heavyweight against the cage. In the clinch, Danho does his best work landing punches to body and just battering his opponent. Omielanczuk has been taken down opponents before and he offers very little resistance in that regard. Danho could certainly win this fight standing or on the ground. Heavyweight debutants have proven to be very hit and miss in the UFC, so it’s hard to have strong opinions on their fights, but I do see advantages for Danho to win this bout. The over 1.5 rounds may be a safer play at -140. Omielanczuk lost by decision in his two UFC losses. Danho’s already been past the 1.5 distance in two of his six fights; neither of which was against UFC caliber competition. UFC Ceiling Jarjis Danho is an interesting prospect in the heavyweight division. He’s very strong for the weight class. Opponents will have trouble pushing him around and in many cases he’ll be able to do that to opponents. His skill set is rather limited at this point, but progression from fight to fight does seem apparent. He fights for a small fight camp, so training partners may be an issue, but he is a guy (with continued improvement) who could stick around in the UFC.
