MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 148 women’s flyweight Ilima-Lei MacFarlane as she prepares for her preliminary card bout this tonight (January 29, 2016) against Amber Tackett at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.
The Team Hurricane Awesome fighter feels confident heading into this match-up because she had had plenty of help while preparing for her upcoming opponent from a multitude of sources:
“My head trainer was the ring announcer for one of [Amber Tackett’s] amateur fights like six years ago. He remembers that fight and gave me the lowdown on that. As far as finding stuff on her, we were able to find two of her fights including her most recent one in October. She looks like a striker and she’s pretty physically strong, she’s swole and she’s southpaw… We had to bring some people in. Our boxing gym worked with me a lot and had their southpaws spar with me and that was good, and we had some of our more advanced fighters switch up southpaw for me when we trained so it was good. I had a multitude of training partners who could go southpaw.”
