With a light boxing calendar in early January, several fight cards in Europe are getting attention from the sport books. The Baden-Arena in Offenburg, Germany hosts the WBA World Super Middleweight title fight between Vincent Feigenbutz (20-1) and Giovanni De Carolis (23-6). Feigenbutz and De Carolis fought in October with Feigenbutz winning a controversial decision. At that time, Feigenbutz held the “interim” WBA belt, but the rematch has been upgraded to full WBA World title status. Despite winning the first match by most accounts, the Italian De Carolis is still a hefty (+365) underdog to Feigenbutz, who is paying back at (-505). The 12 round bout does not have an over/under posted. Feigenbutz was coming in a (-600) favorite last week when the line was released, so De Carolis is getting some money coming in. Feigenbutz is just 20 years old, while De Carolis is 31. De Carolis has called Feigenbutz arrogant and inexperienced, and he hopes to show that in this fight. The WBA’s “Super” Champion in the weight class will be determined on February 20th when Felix Sturm faces Fedor Chudinov. The Baden Arena show also features a Cruiserweight 10 round bout that sees veteran Valery Brudov (42-6) come in as a (+525) underdog as he faces (19-0) prospect Noel Gevor, who is returning (-975). This is a big step up fight for Grevor, as Brudov is well tested against international competition. Brudov lost his last fight, in April of 2015 when he was stopped by Rakhim Chakhkiev, and he has losses in his career to Tony Bellew, Guillermo Jones, Ola Afolabi, Firat Arslan and Virgil Hill. Needless to say, grevor has no one even close to that caliber of fighter on his resume. The Centro Deportivo Boxing Unitres in Picanya, Spain sees 10 round Featherweight action as (20-1-1) takes on Jesus Galicia (13-8-1). Gradovich, a former world titleholder at Featherweight, dropped the belt to Lee Selby in MArch of 2015 and this is his second fight since. Gradovich is being looked at as a huge (-3000) favorite at the sport books, with the veteran Galicia returning at (+1300). There is no over/under posted.
