If interested in wagering on this parlay, or any bouts on this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here is my parlay: Feathereight bout: Chad “Money” Mendes (+145) vs Frankie “The Answer” Edgar (-165) Gabe’s Thoughts: It’s MONEY vs THE ANSWER! A championship-caliber match-up! I think their grappling is going to cancel each other out and this fight is going to play out on the feet, where I give the advantage to Edgar, who I believe has the superior boxing and footwork. Add superior cardio to the list and I think you get the recipe for a Frankie Edgar unanimous decision victory. I won’t be surprised if he scores a late finish of a fading Mendes, but I think Edgar gets this done on the scorecards more often than not. I think he should be a -210 betting favorite heading into this five round main event contest, so at his current offering price of -165, I like him for a leg in this two-way main card parlay. Gabe’s Call: “The Answer” by Unanimous Decision (49-46, 48-47, 49-47) Lightweight bout: Edson “Junior” Barboza (+140) vs Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson (-160) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this is going to be a popular parlay at the sportsbooks next Friday. Personally, I like “El Cucuy” here because I think he will have a slight striking advantage and a massive grappling advantage heading into this co-main event contest. The Brazilian unquestionably has the superior Muay Thai but I give the edge to Ferguson in the striking department because he packs more power in his punches and is generally the aggressor in his bouts, while Barboza prefers to counter-strike. Barboza is not as effective when he is moving backwards, which is what I think Ferguson is going to make him do. If the fight hits the judges’ scorecards for a decision, I favor “El Cucuy” to take the nod. That said, I could see him finishing the Brazilian with strikes, too, but I think he is going to get the job done by submission. I could see him dropping Barboza then going for a submission and I could also see him rolling for a leg and catching him, which I’ll go with for my official prediction for the fight. Gabe’s Call: Ferguson by Submission (kneebar, 2:41 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Edgar (-165) and Ferguson (-160) at +160 for 3.7u to win 5.95u
