At the beginning of every month on MMAOddsBreaker, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of November. Nov 6th – Prize FC 12: Rock N’ Rumble (Denver, Colorado) Joshua Copeland def. DJ Linderman via Unanimous Decision Former UFC heavyweight Copeland has now won two fights in a row since his UFC release. Linderman meanwhile had his three fight win streak snapped. Marcus Edwards def. LT Nelson via Submission (Choke) at 2:06, RD. 1 Titan FC lightweight Edwards earns his third win in his last four fights. Nelson meanwhile drops to 1-4 in his last five fights. Alvin Robinson def. Josh Hunter via Submission (Arm Triangle Choke) at 3:15, RD.1 UFC veteran Robinson gets back on the winning track as he submitted late replacement Hunter. With the loss, Hunter is now 3-3 in his last six fights. Nov 7th – EFC Worldwide 45 (Cape Town, South Africa) Tumelo Maphutha def. Ruan Potts via Unanimous Decision UFC vet Potts has now lost five fights in a row and hasn’t won a bout since 2013. Maphutha meanwhile has won two in a row. Nov 13th – Hard Knocks 47 (Calgary, Alberta) Rodney Wallace def. Adrian Miles via Submission (Choke) at 2:36, RD. 5 UFC veteran Wallace earns his fifth win in his last seven bouts as he took out late replacement Miles. With the loss Miles is now 1-3 in his last four fights. Nov 13th –Legacy FC 48: Leite vs. Spann (Lake Charles, Louisiana) Sean Soriano def. Josh Quayhagen via KO (Punch) at 3:21, RD.1 Blackzillians product Soriano picks up his first win since 2013 and also earns his first win at lightweight. Quayhagen meanwhile is now 1-5 in his last five bouts. Nov 14th – Premier FC 18 (Springfield, Massachusetts) Ricardo Funch def. Brett Oteri via TKO (Punches) at 0:21, RD. 1 Former UFC welterweight Funch earns his first win since 2011 and also competed for the first time this year. Oteri meanwhile is 1-4 in his last five bouts. Nov 14th – Sugar Creek Showdown 28: Shockwave (Hinton, Oklahoma) Egidijus Valavicius def. Jeremy Horn via (Injury) RD. 1 Former UFC title challenger Horn has his four fight unbeaten streak snapped as he is forced to stop the fight in the first round. Bellator veteran Valavicius has now won four of his last five fights. Nov 19th – KOTC: Untamed (Worley, Idaho) Josh Rettinghouse def. Lupe Hudgens via TKO at 1:13 RD. 1 Former WSOF title challenger Rettinghouse snapped his two-fight losing streak as he defeated late replacement Hudgens. It was Rettinghouse’s first win since 2013, while Hudges loses his second straight fight and falls to 7-8 overall. Nov 21st– Gladiator Cage Fights (St. Charles, Missouri) Marcus Sursa def. Thiago Silva via TKO (Punches) at 2:00, RD. 2 WSOF light heavyweight Silva suffers his second straight knockout loss while Sursa has now won four of his last five fights. Nov 20th – ICE FC 9: The Rematch (Manchester, England) Phil De Fries (11-5) vs. Rob Broughton (16-7-1) [CANCELLED] Bout cancelled per Tapology Nov 21st – WSOF: Global Championship China 1 (Hainan, China) Jeremy May vs. Evgeny Erokhin [No Contest] Bout ended in a No Contest due to an eye poke Dylan Fussel def. Carlo Prater via Split Decision UFC vet Prater has now lost four fights in a row and is 1-7 in his last eight fights. American Fussel meanwhile earns his third straight win. Nov 22nd– Global Proving Ground 22: Legends & Rising Stars (Mt. Laurel, New Jersey) Nah-shon Burrell def. Ryan Dickson via TKO (Punches) at 0:29, RD. 2 UFC/Strikeforce vet Burrell has now gone 2-1 in his last three bouts after losing two in a row in 2014. Dickson meanwhile lost his third straight fight and retired from MMA at the age of 26 years old. Nov 28th – Battle of Botnia 2015 (Umeå, Sweden) Niklas Bäckström def. Georgi Stoyanov via Submission, RD. 1 Backstrom snaps his two-fight losing streak in his first fight since his UFC release. Stoyanov is 1-6 in his last seven fights. Nov 28th – KSW 33: Khalidov vs. Materla (Kraków, Poland) Aziz Karaoglu def. Maiquel Falcão via TKO (Punches) at 0:30, RD. 1 With the win, 38-year old Karaoglu earns the first three fight win streak of his career. Falcao has his three-fight win streak snapped.
