MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with RFA 32 welterweight Benjamin Smith as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout tonight (November 6, 2015) against Craig Eckelberg at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
The 35-year old veteran had his six-fight winning streak snapped in his last fight, a main event for RFA 26, and he’s hoping to get back on track against a tough prospect this time around:
“This guy’s young. I can’t get a huge read on [Craig Eckelberg] because he’s only got five pro fights but he’s 5-0. He hasn’t fought anyone really great, but watching the footage that I can on him, he looks like he’s gonna be a tough fight. He’s got gas in the tank that’s for sure so if anything, he’ll probably be looking to drag me into the later rounds. I plan on keeping things on my feet and focusing on my stand-up and if this fight goes to the ground and it probably will because I haven’t seen this guy stand up for very long. If it goes to the ground, I’m very comfortable there.”
