Tonight (Friday, October 9th, 2015), live on Spike TV from Denver, Colorado is GLORY 24. GLORY 24 is primed to be one of GLORY’s better shows of the year thus far featuring a main event middleweight clash between top contender Joe Schilling and up-and-comer Jason Wilnis. The co-main event sees Wayne Barrett return to action against the durable, never-say-die Dustin Jacoby and to top things off there is a heavyweight tournament featuring four of the world’s finest heavyweights with the winner getting a shot against champion Rico Verhoeven at GLORY 26 Amsterdam. Betting odds for Glory 24 are available via Several Bookmakers. The main event of the night is Joe “Stitch ‘em Up” Schilling (18-7-0) returning to the GLORY ring after a few less-than-favorable outings in the Bellator cage looking to prove to the world that he’s still one of the best kickboxers at middleweight against one of the top middleweights in the world in Jason “Tyson” Wilnis (24-4-1). Schilling opens up as the favorite at -185, but the smart money seems to be +145 on Jason Wilnis. Schilling is coming off of a brutal knockout loss to Hisaki Kato in Bellator and Wilnis absolutely possesses the tools to take the fight to Schilling. Of course, Schilling is one of the best at this weight class and it is hard to count him out. Wayne Barrett (5-3-0) is one of GLORY’s best finds in the United States, bursting onto the scene with wins over Mike Lemaire, Robby Plotkin and most famously Joe Schilling. He’s on a three fight skid at the moment but the opening line of -300 against Dustin “Hanyak” Jacoby seems only fair. Barrett has refocused his career and seems to have a new lease on who he is and what he’s capable of, leaving +220 for Dustin Jacoby for the dreamers who believe that a puncher’s chance is worth their money. Moving onto the heavyweight tournament we have a rematch between Benjamin “The Gentleman” Adegbuyi (20-3-0) looking to once again dispatch of Croatia’s Mladen “The Scorpion Sting” Brestovac (49-9-1). Adegbuyi recently had an unsuccessful challenge for Rico Verhoeven’s championship and a win in this tournament could earn him another. By the looks of it, the lines opening up for Benny at -350 seems to favor the Romanian slugger, but it is hard to count out Mladen Brestovac, especially at +250. Of course, the level of competition that Brestovac has been facing hasn’t been anywhere near Adegbuyi, so questions will still remain until the final bell rings. The second fight in the tournament marks the return to the ring of Ben “Guvner” Edwards (38-9-2) after focusing on boxing for the last year or so against the recently-crowned Kunlun Super Heavyweight champion in Jahfarr Wilnis (27-4-1). The work that Wilnis has been putting in puts him as a slight favorite over Edwards at -160 to Edwards at +120 but this is one of those fights that could really go either way. Both men are big, hit hard and are prone to brawl, making this one of the most explosive fights of the evening. After a disappointing showing for GLORY at Bellator MMA’s Dynamite 1 event they are looking to rebound in a big way with GLORY 24. GLORY 24 airs Friday night at 11pm Eastern time on Spike TV.
