Five Crazy Prop Bets that Cashed Big for UFC 191

Ross Pearson“Five Crazy Prop Bets That Cashed Big” is a column on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here’s five crazy UFC 191 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers.   1) John Lineker wins by submission +942 Lineker only needed two minutes to dispatch Francisco Rivera in one of the best one round fights in UFC history. Lineker’s chin and punching power were evident in this one, as he bit down on his mouthpiece and exchanged punches with the heavy-handed Rivera. The 25 year old Brazilian wobbled Rivera and locked up a tight guillotine choke, which forced “Sisco” to tap out only two minutes into the fight. This was Lineker’s first submission victory in the UFC, which is one of the reasons why the line was so high.   2) Raquel Pennington wins by submission +795 Pennington’s size advantage and the Brazilian’s depleted gas tank were the deciding factors in this one. After a back and forth first round, Raquel locked up a rear-naked choke and forced Andrade to tap with only two seconds remaining in the second round. This was a pretty nice line considering Pennington’s stout submission game and Andrade’s shaky submission defense. Congrats to those who cashed.   3) Ross Pearson wins by decision +570 There were a lot of bettors that did not give Ross Pearson a chance in this one. Pearson, a +350 underdog, used his crisp boxing and countering game to land the cleaner shots and pick up a split decision on the judge’s scorecards. While Felder was coming forward more, he was not landing as often as Pearson. I thought the judge’s got this one right.   4) Andrei Arlovski wins by decision +565 Not many people expected Arlovski and Frank Mir to go all three rounds at UFC 191. Fights featuring two aging fighters with questionable chins do not see the judge’s very often. However, Arlovski and Mir were quite tentative from the start and spent long periods of time either clinching or in a stalling position on the ground. While Mir was able to secure a few takedowns and make this a close fight, he was outstruck on the feet and ultimately lost a unanimous decision.   5) Paige VanZant wins by submission +292 It was clear from the beginning that Alex Chambers was in over her head. The much younger VanZant used constant pressure, clinch striking, and superior tenacity to overwhelm Chambers from the onset. A hard body shot and follow up strikes dropped Chambers in round two, but the Australian strawweight was able to hang on until the round expired. Paige ultimately got to the fight to the ground early in round three and forced Chambers to tap from a tight armbar. This was VanZant’s third straight win since she started her UFC career last November.
