It seems anti-climatic and not what we are used to for a Floyd Mayweather Jr fight, but his fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas against Andre Berto is this Saturday. The fight has been on the books officially for about six weeks, and the general reaction to the fight has been lukewarm as best. Nevertheless, Mayweather is asking $65 to $75 per pay-per-view to see what is ostensibly his last match. Welterweight: 12 rounds Andre Berto +1250 o11½ -220 Floyd Mayweather Jr -2000 u11½ +180 Notes: As expected, Mayweather comes in a huge favorite, and as in almost every Floyd Mayweather Jr match for the past ten years, the fight is expected to go the distance. Berto was a long time WBC World title holder, but since losing the belt to Victor Ortiz in April of 2011 he has not been able to get back on track. He underwent shoulder surgery that saw him miss more than a year, and he has been (3-3) in his last six outings. If he is able to find the fire and explosion he showed earlier in his career, Berto may have a chance to get in close to Mayweather and make this an in-close fight that suits him. If he cannot slow down Mayweather, the speed and skill of the pound for pound number one will likely see him win every round. Super Middleweight – 12 rounds Badou Jack +130 o9½ -175 George Groves -150 u9½ +155 Notes: One of two supporting fights on the pay-per-view that is very close at the books. Badou Jack is making the first defense of the WBC World title he took from Andre Dirrell back in April, and he comes into the match with a lot to prove. Groves, who is (21-2) has only lost to Carl Froch in his career, and he feels confident coming into this fight that his skill is at a higher level that Jack’s. Super Featherweight – 12 rounds Orlando Salido +180 o10½ -185 Roman Martinez -220 u10½ +160 Notes Roman Martinez is making his frist defense of the WBO World title he won in April when he defeated Orlando Salido. Salido, the former champion is getting his re-match, and this time the bout is not in Puerto Rico where Martinez hails from. The Mexico-Puerto Rico rivalry is in full effect, as Salido is the man who retired Puerto Rican top gun Juan Manuel Lopez.
