UFC Fight Night 72 Date: July 25, 2015 Arena: United Center City: Chicago, IL The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Chicago this Saturday night (July 25, 2015) for UFC on FOX 16: Dillashaw vs Barao. The fight card is stacked with 12 scraps, with the main card kicking off at 8pm ET on FOX and preliminary action getting going on the same channel at 6pm ET with four preliminary bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass priot to that at 4:15pm ET. Here’s my main card parlay for UFC on FOX 16: Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza (-135) vs Paul Felder (+115) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think the Brazilian could hand Felder his first professional mixed martial arts career defeat while simultaneously recording another highlight reel finish for himself. Barboza knows what it’s like to be the undefeated up and comer heading into the Octagon against a tough veteran, so he has the advantage of having previously been in Felder’s shoes. I think this is a close fight, but as long as he avoids getting finished, I think it is one Barboza could win on the judges’ scorecards, as well as possibly secure a finish of his own. This is a fight I have been thinking over a lot and was initially planning on avoiding it for a wager, but the fact that Barboza has been in Felder’s shoes before makes me want to make a play. This is the biggest fight of Felder’s career and on the biggest stage, live on nationally broadcasted network television. I would not be at all surprised to see him win this fight, as I think he has a legitimate chance. However, at the current odds, I think there is value to be had with Barboza, so I will be including him in my two-way parlay for the main card of UFC on FOX 16 in Chicago. Gabe’s Call: Barboza by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon (-295) vs Takanori Gomi (+248) Gabe’s Thoughts: Simply put, I think Lauzon’s size and grappling advantages will be his keys to victory in this contest. I see the fight hitting the mat sooner or later, where I think it will only be a matter of time before “J-Lau” locks up a submission to earn the tap from the fellow veteran Gomi. If he fails to secure a submission, I think he will spend enough time in top position on the mat to pick up a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards following three rounds of action.
