UFC 156 is now in the books and thus MMA Oddsbreaker has updated the MMA Fighter Rankings. In the mythical pound-for-pound division, Rashad Evans is out and Demian Maia is in after Evans lost to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Maia beat Jon Fitch at UFC 156. In the heavyweight division, Antonio Silva defeated Alistair Overeem to shoot up into the top five in the division and near a title shot against champion Cain Velasquez. At light heavyweight, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira jumped into the top five with a huge upset over Rashad Evans, who fell all the way from No. 2 to No. 6. The division is now wide open — it’s basically Jon Jones and everybody else at this point. In the welterweight division, Demian Maia defeated perennial contender Jon Fitch to move up to No. 4 at 170 pounds, a win that immediately established him as one of the top contenders in the division. And at flyweight, Joseph Benavidez jumped up to No. 2 again after defeating Ian McCall at UFC 156. It’s likely he’ll fight champion Demetrious Johnson in a rematch in the coming months. The next event if UFC on FUEL TV 7 on Feb. 16, so check back the day after the fights to see the updated rankings.
