UFC on FOX 6 went down pretty much like The MMA Oddscast predicted, with each of the hosts having a solid night in picks and bets. Overall, eight of 11 favorites cashed, while three underdogs came through. Here’s a betting recap for the event based on closing MMA odds: UFC BETTING FAVORITES THAT WON Chalk mostly came through tonight, with three of four favorites coming through on the main card and five of seven coming through on the preliminary card. In the main event, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson (-245) was able to outpoint John Dodson (+195) to win a unanimous decision in a razor-thin fight that the judges scored 48-47, 49-46, and 48-47 for the champion. In the co-main event, Glover Teixeira (-235) absolutely dominated Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (+185) to earn the biggest win of his career and move into the UFC light heavyweight title picture, and in a featured lightweight bout Anthony Pettis (-165) was able to become the first man to knock out Donald Cerrone (+135) in either MMA or kickboxing, finishing the Greg Jackson product via first-round body kick knockout. On the prelims, TJ Grant (-205) was able to up his UFC lightweight record to 4-0 with a spectacular KO win over Matt Wiman (+165) in the FX main event. Grant has looked incredible since making the cut to 155, and will definitely be fighting a top-10 opponent in his next outing. In a featured featherweight bout, Clay Guida (-240) was able to outpoint Hatsu Hioki (+190) and take home a razor-thin decision that many believed should have been scored for the Japanese star. As well, Pascal Krauss (-285) put on a striking clinic and took home a clear-cut unanimous decision victory over Mike Stumpf (+225). In a squash match, light heavyweight Ryan Bader (-600) knocked down and then submitted Vladimir Matyushenko (+450) with a guillotine choke that set a UFC record for fastest tapout in the 205-pound weight class. And in the first FX bout, Rafael “Sapo” Natal (-240) submitted UFC newcomer Sean Spencer (+190) with a third-round arm-triangle choke. It was an impressive performance by Natal, who needed to rebound from the miracle head kick knockout by Andrew Craig in his last outing back at UFC on FUEL TV 4. UFC BETTING UNDERDOGS THAT WON In the first fight of the night on Facebook, welterweight David Mitchell (+195) defeated Simeon Thoresen (-245) via unanimous decision in one of three upsets on the night. Mitchell controlled the grappling in the bout and landed a decent amount of offence on Thoresen, who could see a pink slip from the UFC with his 1-2 record in the promotion. With the victory, Mitchell moves to 1-2 in th UFC ans saves his job. The next underdog to cash was Shawn Jordan (+115), who defeated Mike Russow (-145) via second-round TKO on the FX prelims. Russow dominated Jordan for round one but gassed hard in round two and Jordan capitalized, getting Russow onto the ground and putting him into a dominant position, throwing down punches until the referee stepped in and finished the bout. The loss upped Jordan’s UFC record to 2-1, while Russow dropped to 4-2. And in the first main card fight of the night, Ricardo Lamas was able to capitalize on a mistake by Erik Koch and finish him via elbows in the second round. Koch won the first round but in the second Lamas fell to the ground and Koch, the superior striker, followed him down and was then soon finished by Lamas, who gained a superior position and finished the fight with a brutal barrage of strikes to up his UFC featherweight record to 4-0 and move one step closer to a title shot. MORE UFC ON FOX 6 ODDS & ENDS The Clay Guida/Hatsu Hioki was razor close, with media members and fans on Twitter splitting on who won the bout. The judges also split, with one scoring it 29-28 Hioki and the other two scoring it 29-28 and 30-27 for Guida. A 29-28 score for either man was acceptable, as round two was razor close — but that 30-27 score for Guida, who offered little offence when the fight hit the mat, was unacceptable.
