Bellator 137 took place last night (Friday, May 15, 2015) at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California, and overall the card was very unique as it involved a pair of catchweight bouts in the main and co-main events following some very unfortunate missing of weight from key players. Overall from a betting perspective, all four favorites won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Bellator middleweight champion Brandon Halsey was stripped of his title for missing weight the day before, but that didn’t stop him from earning a stoppage victory in the championship rounds with his fourth round TKO of UFC veteran and former Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove. Halsey will have to fight to reclaim his title in the near future, but he more than did enough to earn that opportunity with his impressive showing. Overall, Halsey held serve as a lofty -840 (Bet $840 to win $100) favorite while Grove returned +660 (Bet $100 to win $660). In a 139 pound catchweight, Mike Richman was punished by former champion Eduardo Dantas for also missing weight. Dantas took the fight to the former marine, outworking him over the course of three rounds and while he failed to get a finish, it was more than enough to win two out of three rounds on all three judges’ scorecards. Dantas was victorious as a -200 favorite while Richman has to go back to the drawing board as a +185 underdog. In welterweight action, Fernando Gonzalez continued his tremendous career resurgence with a third round submission victory over Curtis Millender. Gonzalez pulled guard late and forced the tap via guillotine choke to move his Bellator winning streak to four in a row. Gonzalez won as a slight -110 favorite while Millender was forced to submit as a +100 underdog. In the opening bout of the main card, bantamweights Darrion Caldwell and Raphael Silva put on an interesting grappling display. Caldwell relied on his superior collegiate wrestling while Silva continuously pulled guard looking for submissions and sweeps. It was a poor strategy from Silva and he was punished for it en route to a unanimous decision victory for Silva. Caldwell was victorious at -115 while Silva failed to cash as a +105 dog..
