Here are my live dogs for UFC 186: Lightweight bout: John Makdessi (-160) vs Shane Campbell (+150) Fight Prediction: I think this is a coin-flip fight, only because it is in Makdessi’s backyard, but if it were in Vegas, I would flip the odds and make Campbell the -160 favorite. At +150, I think the value is with him in his short-notice Octagon debut. I think he can win this fight by either finish or decision. Makdessi is a very talented striker but I think Campbell has to tools to defeat him, either inside the distance or on the scorecards. With that in mind, I will avoid making any prop plays on this bout, but I will take a shot at the value on Campbell straight-up. Gabe’s Call: Campbell by T/KO (strikes, 1:21 round 2) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Campbell (+150) 2u to win 3u Women’s Bantamweight bout: Alexis Davis (+185) vs Sarah Kaufman (-200) Fight Prediction: I bet on Kaufman the second time these two fought under the Strikeforce banner, and after that fight, I told myself that if they ever fought a third time, I would take Davis. I do think Davis can win this fight by either decision or submission, but this is more of a gut play than anything else. I believe she can beat Kaufman and avenge her two previous defeats tonight, and I am counting on her to do so. I think she will find success with her grappling in this match-up and do enough to pick up at least two out of three rounds on the judges’ scorecards for a decision, if not put Kaufman away with a submission, as I already mentioned. At +1050, Davis by Submission is a prop I will also be making a play on, so look for my props article for that. On the feet, she will be at a disadvantage, but I would not be surprised to see her do some damage there as well. I expect significant improvement from Davis in the striking realm as it’s an area she has focused on since her time away from the cage. I think these women’s bantamweights have a great chance at producing another incredibly entertaining scrap tonight, and at her current underdog tag of +185, I do like Davis for a play. Gabe’s Call: Davis by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Davis (+185) 3u to win 5.55u
