Here are my prop plays for Bellator 136 in Irvine: Joe Schilling (-130) vs Rafael Carvalho (+110) Carvalho by Decision (+460) .25u to win 1.15u Fight Goes to Decision (+265) .2u to win .53u I agree in the current betting odds in that this is more-or-less a pick ’em fight, so I don’t see value in either fighter to warrant a straight play. However, looking at the props for this contest, I think there is value in the Carvalho by Decision prop at +460. I think it holds much more value than Carvalho by Submission at +180, as I think there is a decent change he outgrapples Schilling over the course of the three rounds without seriously threatening with submissions. Alexander Volkov (-280) vs Tony Johnson (+240) Johnson ITD (+460) .25u to win 1.15u Johnson by Decision (+500) .3u to win 1.5u Volkov by Decision (+403) .35u to win 1.41u Not Volkov ITD (+104) .5u to win .52u Simply put, I think Johnson can finish this fight, but I don’t like Volkov’s chances of finishing Johnson. I said the same when Volkov faced Blagoi Ivanov and ended up eating my own words, as Volkov submitted Ivanov, handing him the first loss of his professional mixed martial arts career. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him prove me wrong again, but I do believe he wins this fight via decision more often than finish. If the fight ends inside the distance, I think more than likely it will be Johnson earning the finish. If it hits the judges’ scorecards for a decision, I think it could go either way.
