The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to Dallas Saturday night (Mar. 14, 2015) with UFC 185, producing an incredible night of action that saw two titles change hands. Now with the show behind us, let’s take a look at which of the evening’s competitors we may no longer see inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK: Jake Lindsey “The Librarian” made his Octagon debut taking on Guam-native Jon Tuck at UFC Fight Night 42 and lost the bout in the third round, submitting due to a heel to the body Tuck delivered while holding back control on the mat. The loss was the first for Lindsey, who was undefeated at 9-0 heading into the contest. He next saw action at UFC Fight Night 54, where he took on TUF Nations finalist Olivier Aubin-Mercier and lost the bout via rear naked choke submission in the second round of action. He went into Saturday night’s UFC 185 preliminary card match-up against Joseph Duffy on a two-fight skid, and unfortunately suffered another finish, this one coming via strikes in the very first round of action. Now having been finished in all three of his Octagon outings, I think it is safe to say that we have seen the last of “The Librarian” in the UFC. I don’t believe he is a UFC-caliber athlete and would be surprised to see him work his way back to the big show. Larissa Pacheco The former Jungle Fight Women’s Bantamweight Champion made her promotional debut at UFC Fight Night 51, taking on fellow Brazilian Jessica Andrade and losing the bout via guillotine choke submission in the very first round of action. Her next Octagon outing came on the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card of Saturday night’s UFC 185 in Dallas, where she took on another women’s 135-pounder who was in need of a win in Dutchwoman Germaine de Randamie. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, she again came up short, suffering a TKO defeat in the second frame. Now having been finished in both of her UFC bouts, there is a decent chance she could be receiving the axe from the promotion. Had one of the defeats been a decision, I would have liked her odds of getting a third shot at a first win a lot more. That said, she is very young, and the women’s bantamweight division is razor-thin, so I think it’s 50/50 whether we see her inside the Octagon again. In the case that she does get cut, she is young enough and talented enough where I could see her working her way back for a second stint.
