UFC 184 Date: 02/28/15 Arena: Staples Center City: Los Angeles, CA The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) finally returns to Los Angeles tonight (February 28, 2014) for UFC 184. The event will feature an entirety of 11-bouts, including a five-fight main card that will be live on Pay Per View at 10pm ET. Preliminary action will precede it at 8pm ET on FOX Sports 1, with a pair of scraps coming before that on UFC Fight Pass at 7pm ET. I believe these UFC 184 ‘FOTN’ contenders hold the most value: Holm/Pennington +450 — I think this fight is going to play out for all 15-minutes of action and feel there is a good chance that it will be an entertaining three rounds of action. Pennington is coming off the most impressive win of her professional mixed martial arts career and now takes a big step up in competition. Holmes will look to stay undefeated in her promotional debut and knows that she is likely to receive a title shot with a victory over Pennington. Both of these women’s bantamweights are very fun to watch, and as long as Holm’s Octagon jitters don’t play too big of a factor, I think this these ladies will produce fireworks in tonight’s UFC 184 co-main event of the evening. Pennington was awarded ‘Fight of the Season’ for her three round war with Jesamyn Duke on Season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter reality television series but has yet to claim one for her official UFC bouts, and with this being Holm’s Octagon debut, it would mean the first time for both ladies, should they take home the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. Jouban/Walsh +600 — I love this fight, it is my personal favorite pick to lock down the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus and believe that at +600 it offers the most value out of all 11 fights on this card. I think this welterweight scrap is going to produce fireworks and can’t see it being anything but entertaining. Both of these 170-pounders deliver every time they step inside a cage, and neither of them fight for points. They both look to do damage and finish fights, which I think is a recipe for an entertaining battle. I am a fan of both of these fighters and tonight’s performances will likely be the reason why. Win or lose, I expect them to leave it all inside the Octagon. Both welterweights are coming off controversial defeats in their latest outings and look to bounce back into the win column. Jouban earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors for his one round war with Seth Baczynski in his promotional debut, but Walsh has yet to take home a fat check, so should they receive the bonus tonight, it would mean the second time for Jouban in three Octagon appearances, while being the first for Walsh in what is also his third Octagon appearance.
