Bellator 134 Date: 02/27/15 Arena: Mohegan Sun Arena City: Uncasville, CT Bellator Fighting Championship is back this Friday night (Feb. 27, 2015) with Bellator 134: The British Invasion. The event will be live from Connecticut and will feature an entirety of 11-bouts, including a five fight main card that will be live on Spike TV at 9pm ET, with a five fight preliminary card preceding it on Spike.com at 6:45pm ET. Here’s my two-way parlay for Bellator 134: Light Heavyweight title bout: Emanuel Newton (-120) vs Liam McGeary (-120) Gabe’s Thoughts: Newton may be the most under-rated light heavyweight in all of mixed martial arts but I think McGeary is the superior fighter heading into this match-up and is the fighter out of the two who has the better chance of finishing this fight. I think McGeary is likely to put Newton away, wheres if Newton wins, I think it will come via close decision on the judges’ scorecards, due to him picking up rounds three, four and five for being the fighter with the better conditioning. That said, I think McGeary has a chance of edging out a decision, as well, should the fight find its way to the judges’ scorecards. It could be one to sweat if it goes the distance, but I am not counting on it to. Despite Newton being so incredibly tough to put away, I think McGeary gets the job done Friday night. Gabe’s Call: McGeary by T/KO (knees and punches, 1:01 round 1) Heavyweight bout: Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (-120) vs Cheick Kongo (-120) Gabe’s Thoughts: Simply put, I think Kongo’s advantages in size and striking will play the difference in this match-up. I see him either knocking “King Mo” our or taking a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards. After this fight, “King Mo” will likely realize he went up to the heavyweight division when what he meant to do was drop down to middleweight. I don’t think he has the power to put Kongo out on the feet, and I don’t think he will be able to outwrestle the former UFC heavyweight for two out of three rounds to pick up the nod from the judges. I say Kongo extends his Bellator winning streak to three in a row this Friday night in Connecticut.
