WSOF 17 took place Saturday night at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and while the first few main card fights were a bore, the final two bouts more than made up for it in entertainment value. Overall from a betting perspective, four betting favorites won while one underdog won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Jake Shields defeated Brian Foster via first-round submission (rear-naked choke). Shields was able to get Foster to the mat quickly and sank in the choke for the highlight-reel victory. Shields hit at -455 (bet $455 to win $100) while Foster lost at +405 (bet $100 to win $405). In a middleweight bout, Krasimir Mladenov defeated Brendan Kornberger via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x 2). Mladenov used his wrestling to take Korngberger down to the mat and control him for the win. Mladenov hit at -255 while Kornberger lost at +235. In a bantamweight bout, Bryson Hansen defeated Rudy Morales via unanimous decision (30-25, 30-26, 30-27). Hansen bloodied up Morales early on and never looked back as he cruised to a decision win. Hansen hit at -260 while Morales lost at +240. In a middleweight bout, Danny Davis Jr. defeated Adam Cella via unanimous decision (29-27 x 3). Davis Jr. controlled the majority of the fight with his striking and grappling to easily win the decision. Davis Jr. cashed at -150 while Cella lost at +140. Underdogs That Won In a lightweight bout, Joe Condon defeated Johnny Nunez via third-round submission (guillotine choke). Nunez won the first two round with his striking and grappling and seemed to be cruising to a decision win, but he made a mistake in the third, leaving his neck out during a takedown attempt and Condon pounced on it by locking in a guillotine choke to get an incredible come-from-behind victory. Condon won at +550 while Nunez lost at -1050.
