UFC Fight Night 59 Date: January 18, 2015 Arena: TD Garden City: Boston, MA The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Boston tomorrow night (Jan. 18, 2015) with UFC Fight Night 59 and will be featuring 12 bouts, including a four fight main card that will be live on FOX Sports 1 at 10pm ET, with a six fight preliminary card that will precede it on the same channel at 7pm ET, and a pair of scraps preceding that on UFC Fight Pass at 6pm ET. If interested in wagering on these plays, or any other plays for this fight card, you may do so at Several Bookmakerss. My live dogs for UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston are: Lightweight bout: Gleison Tibau (-135) vs Norman Parke (+125) Gabe’s Thoughts: I like Parke’s chances of winning at least two out of three rounds in this scrap. I see him finding success in defending takedowns, and if he does get taken down, I don’t see Tibau successfully keeping him down on the mat. I think Tibau’s best chance at winning this fight is to control Parke against the cage and make it an ugly, boring fight, but I think the chances of that happening are not too great. I think Parke learned lessons from his Draw against Leonardo Santos and will at all costs be looking to avoid being In that position. Tibau’s chin may be on a decline, considering his flush knockout in his last defeat against Michael Johnson. That said, I think this fight hits the judges’ scorecards more often than not, where I do favor the Irishman to get his hand raised in front of the Irish-heavy crowd. At his current betting price of +125, I see enough value in him to make a play, though I will note that Parke prepared for this bout in Ireland and not at Alliance MMA, for which reason I am risking half the amount I would have otherwise. Gabe’s Call: Parke by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Norman Parke (+125) 2u to win 2.5u Lightweight bout: Frankie Perez (+160) vs Johnny Case (-170) Gabe’s Thoughts: Perez is stepping in on short notice for an injured Francisco Trevino to make his promotional debut against Case in this match-up. Case found success in his own promotional debut back in September of last year, submitting Kazuki Tokudome via guillotine choke in the second round of action. I think this is going to be a closely competed bout at 155 pounds, and one that likely goes all three rounds for a judges’ decision, at which point it could be anybody’s fight. I’ve changed my mind a couple of times, but I currently lean with Perez to get his hand raised, likely for takedowns scored. I think the betting odds should be at a coin-flip, so with Perez at +160 (bet $100 to win $160), I say it’s worth a little action. Gabe’s Call: Perez by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Frankie Perez (+160) 1.25u to win 2u
