Two new bouts were added to UFC Fight Night 60, which takes place February 14 at 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, and for today’s Odds and Ends I’ll give my thoughts on each new fight. Kevin Lee vs. Michel Prazeres A lightweight bout between Kevin Lee and Michel Prazeres was added to UFC Fight Night 60. Lee, who is only 22 years of age, is one of the top lightweight prospects in the UFC. He is 2-1 so far inside the Octagon with a split decision win over Jesse Ronson and a unanimous decision win over Jon Tuck, as well as a majority decision loss to Al Iaquinta. Lee has shown a tremendous all-around mixed martial games so far, and while he hasn’t scored a finish in the Octagon yet, this could certainly be his chance. As for Prazeres, he is 2-1 in the UFC as well with a split decision win over Ronson, a unanimous decision win over Mairbek Taisumov, and a unanimous decision loss to Paulo Thiago (at welterweight). Prazeres is not a fan-friendly fighter to watch, but he has excellent wrestling and he’s able to get his opponents down to the mat and pin them there. I’m not sure if he can do that to Lee, but it wouldn’t shock me if he did, considering just how easy it was for him to outgrapple Taisumov. As for the line, I do think Lee is going to be a 2-to-1 favorite here, and possibly higher, but I do respect Prazeres and I wouldn’t be laying too much juice against this guy. Jake Lindsey vs. James Moontasri As well, a lightweight bout between Jake Lindsey and James Moontasri was also added to UFC Fight Night 60. Lindsey is 0-2 in the UFC with submission losses to Jon Tuck and Olivier Aubin-Mercier. He has looked quite awful in the Octagon and I’m very surprised that “The Librarian” is getting a third fight in the UFC. As for Moontasri, he’s 0-1 himself with a split decision loss to Joe Ellenberger, but most observers who saw that fight thought that Moontasri deserved the nod in that one, so at least in my mind, he’s 1-0 unofficially. As for how this fight plays out, I personally think this is a no-brainer pick for Moontasri. We have seen already that Lindsey does not absorb punishment well and Moontasri is a deadly finisher with brutal knockout power in his fists. I don’t think this fight is going to be close at all, and I think we see a stoppage here in Moontasri’s favor. Look for Moontasri to enter the bout as a sizeable favorite as he looks to collect his first official UFC win.
