MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC 182 heavyweight Shawn Jordan as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout against Jared Cannonier this Saturday night (Jan. 3, 2015) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The talented former LSU fullback expects a tough test come Saturday night against the UFC newcomer, but he’s not sure exactly what to expect due to lack of fight tape:
“It’ll be a similar gameplan like I do with everybody, get in there and feel him out because I don’t know what he does really. It’s a little frustrating (not having fight tape to watch) especially coming from football, having a background in football we watched film all day every day> I think as I’ve progressed as a mixed martial artist and competed more, it’s less important. I’m still an unorthodox fighter too so they’re gonna fight me differently than they fight anyone else. It’s good to have an idea how they move and get a few tells, but in the long run, you have to get in there and figure it out anyways. But like you said, I have a good number of fights so he can pick through them. This is my ninth fight in the UFC so he can see different aspects of how I fight, but all in all, we have to get in there and compete.”
