UFC Fight Night 58 took place Saturday night at Ginasio Jose Correa in Barueri, Brazil, and overall the card provided a number of exciting fights and killer finishes for the fans. Overall from a betting perspective, 10 betting favorites and two underdogs won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Lyoto Machida defeated CB Dollaway via first-round TKO (body kick and punches). Machida landed a vicious kick to the body early in the fight that stopped Dollaway in his tracks for the big victory in Brazil. Machida was -860 at close (bet $860 to win $100) while Dollaway was +675 (bet $100 to win $675) at close. In a bantamweight bout, Renan Barao defeated Mitch Gagnon via third-round submission (arm-triangle choke). Barao didn’t look great in this fight and Gagnon was doing a great job of neutralizing him, but Barao found a way to get the fight to the floor in the third and he subbed out the gassed Gagnon. Barao closed at -1100, Gagnon +800. In a light heavyweight bout, Patrick Cummins defeated Antonio Carlos Junior via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). Cummins kept taking Carlos Junior down throughout the fight and was able to stop a late submission attempt to get a clear-cut decision victory. Cummins was +145, Carlos Junior +135. In a lightweight bout, Rashid Magomedov defeated Elias Silverio via third-round TKO (punches). Magomedov was getting the better of the striking exchanges throughout the fight and then with just seconds left in the third round found a way to get the stoppage, the latest stoppage ever in a three-round fight in UFC history. Magomedov was -125, Silverio was +140. In a welterweight bout, Erick Silva defeated Mike Rhodes via first-round submission (arm-triangle choke). Silva got the fight to the ground and quickly was able to lock in the submission for another highlight-reel victory. Silva was -380, Rhodes +340. In a middleweight bout, Daniel Sarafian defeated Antonio dos Santos Jr. via second-round TKO (injury). The two middleweights were putting on a good fight for the fans but in the second round Sarafian’s finger dislocated and the referee was forced to stop the bout. Sarafian was -155, dos Santos Jr. +145. In a light heavyweight bout, Marcos Rogerio de Lima defeated Igor Pokrajac via first-round TKO (punches). Pokrajac landed a nice punch that stunned de Lima, but the Brazilian fired back a counter that put Pokrajac down on the mat and out cold. De Lime was -450, Pokrajac -400. In a featherweight bout, Renato Carneiro defeated Tom Niinimaki via second-round submission (rear-naked choke). Carneiro lit up Niinimaki on the feet and then in the second round rocked him and followed him to the ground to secure the choke out. Carneiro was -130, Niinimaki +120. In a featherweight bout, Hacran Dias defeated Darren Elkins via unanimous decision (29-28 x 2, 30-27). Dias landed more takedowns and held top position throughout the fight, and was able to stop a late surge by Elkins to get the win. Dias was -230, Elkins +120. In a welterweight bout, Tim Means defeated Marcio Alexandre Jr. via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Means was the far more effective striker throughout the three rounds and managed to sneak out of Brazil with a close split decision win on the cards. Means was -170 while Alexandre Jr. was +160. Underdogs That Won In a bantamweight bout, Leandro Issa defeated Yuta Sasaki via second-round submission (neck crank). Issa controlled the fight from bell-to-bell with his wrestling, finally securing a submission in the second for the biggest win of his career to date. Issa was +420 while Sasaki was +475. In a middleweight bout, Vitor Miranda defeated Jake Collier via first-round TKO (head kick and punches). Collier controlled the first 4:50 of the fight on the ground, but he let up for just a moment at the end of the first round and Miranda took advantage with a giant head kick and follow-up punches that knocked Collier out. Miranda was +165, Collier was -175.
