MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Titan FC 32 lightweight Rick Hawn as he prepares for his upcoming co-headlining bout against Carlos Prater this Friday night (Dec. 19, 2014) at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The veteran former Team USA Judo Olympian is riding a two-fight losing streak, which resulted in his release from Bellator, but he feels his motivation is back now that he has a change of scenery:
“As you get older, you change the way you train. Now, mentally, it’s about training specific, about training technique and not beating yourself up so much and not taking the punishmetn of a 12-week camp, which I could do a few years ago. I have the motivation. I maybe plateaued with that the last year and a half or so but I kind of got it back. I think with this new organization, I’ve always been focused, ready to fight and been prepared, but being cut changes you mentally. Maybe I got a little complacent with where I was [Bellator], maybe too lax and this was the fire I needed to get the fire back moreso than I had before.”
