UFC Fight Night 58 Date: December 20, 2014 Arena: Jose Correa Arena City: Barueri, Brazil The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Brazil this Saturday night (Dec. 20, 2014) with UFC Fight Night 58 and will be featuring 12 bouts, including a six fight main card that will be live on FOX Sports 1 at 10pm ET, with a four fight preliminary card that will precede it on the same channel at 8pm ET, and a pair of scraps preceding that on UFC Fight Pass at 7pm ET. If interested in betting on this fight card, the lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakerss. My fights to AVOID betting for UFC Fight Night 58 in Brazil are: Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Carlos Junior (+135) vs Patrick Cummins (-155) Gabe’s Thoughts: Sure, it’s possible that Cummins will again find success with his wrestling and manage to outgrapple Carlor Junior for three rounds of action en route to picking up another unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. That said, I believe Carlos Junior, who is dropping down from heavyweight down to 205 pounds for this bout, is a step up in competition for Cummins following the Kyle Kingsbury bout. Carlos Junior is a solid prospect at 205 pounds and I think he has a chance at either winning this fight inside the distance or on the judges’ scorecards. I think this fight is very tough to call and is definitely worth staying away from, as I believe a wager either way would be a true gamble. Gabe’s Call: Cummins by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Featherweight bout: Renato Carneiro (+110) vs Tom Niinimaki (-130) Gabe’s Thoughts: I cannot justify a wager on either fighter in this match-up, as there are concerning questions surrounding both heading into this 145 pound scrap. This will be Carneiro’s promotional debut and he will be making it in front of his fellow Brazilians in Brazil, and it is unknown how he will deal with Octagon jitters, or if he will experience an adrenaline dump. The Brazilian will certainly be looking to make an impression against the Finnish fighter, who is currently on a two fight skid with both losses coming via submission in the first round. With his back against the wall, Niinimaki will be looking to leave it all in the cage to pull out another win to save his UFC career. Will he find success with his superior grappling, or will his opponent get the better of him again and possibly submit him? As I said, numerous questions come to mind when I think about this match-up, and none of those questions have any answers, which means this is one fight that would serve best to stay away from at the sportsbooks. Gabe’s Call: Niinimaki by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
