MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 57 middleweight Luke Barnatt as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout against Roger Narvaez this Saturday (November 22, 2014) at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
The talented veteran of The Ultimate Fighter season 17 doesn’t expect too difficult of a test against Narvaez due to what he feels is a significantly better overall MMA skill-set:
“They don’t realize the power and strength I have in my frame until they’re in the Octagon with me. People have been trying to take me down my whole career so I’m very, very used to that. I feel Roger [Narvaez] will be desperate on the feet. He’s gonna throw bombs and come at me desperate to get it to the ground. He’s a black belt on the ground so that’s where he’s strongest. His wrestling game isn’t that great. I’ve been training with Phil Davis and some of the great wrestlers at Alliance so I’m not worried about him much. To be honest, I’m not worried about him whatsoever. I feel I’m better everywhere in the MMA game. If we stuck gis on and we rolled, yeah, I’m not as good at jiu-jitsu, but when I can elbow and sweep and use the MMA game, I don’t think he stands a chance on the ground either. I’m looking to perform and I’m looking for a knockout.”
