MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas recently released the full main card betting odds for UFC Fight Night 57 at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a preview of the evening’s six-fight main card. Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson In the main event of the evening, former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar takes on Cub Swanson in a five-round non-title fight. Edgar opened at -190 and Swanson +150, and now Edgar is -260 with the comeback on Swanson +180. I think this is a really close fight so at the current odds I definitely like Swanson here for a bet. I think he has a really good chance of winning this fight and at the +180 odds, I’m going to be putting my money on him as I see this as closer to a Pick ’em fight with a slight lean towards Edgar. Edson Barboza vs. Bobby Green In a lightweight matchup, Edson Barboza fights Bobby Green. Green opened as a -125 favorite with Barboza a slight -115 underdog, and the public has flipped the line with Barboza now at -145 and Green at +105. This a close fight, but I think at plus money Green could have some value for a bet. It’s a really competitive matchup but considering Green is coming off of a win over Josh Thomson, he should probably be the favorite here on principle alone, so at the current odds, he could be worth a play. Brad Pickett vs. Chico Camus In a flyweight fight, Brad Pickett fights Chico Camus, who is making his 125lb debut. Pickett opened at -210, Camus +160, and the public has come in on Pickett, who is now -270 compared to Camus at +190. I think Pickett wins and I understand why people are betting on him but it’s hard to trust him considering how bad he has looked at flyweight. Still, there was probably some value in the opener so I can see why people have steamed him up a bit. Jared Rosholt vs. Oleksiy Oliynyk In a heavyweight fight, Jared Rosholt takes on Oleksiy Oliynyk. Rosholt opened at -230, Oliynyk +170, and there has been no significant action on the fight so far. I think the line is pretty accurate here so I’m not surprised bettors aren’t rushing out to bet on it. I do think Rosholt should be able to use his wrestling and grind out a decision, but Oliynyk is a solid veteran and could make things interesting. But all-in-all the line makes sense. Joseph Benavidez vs. Dustin Ortiz In a flyweight bout, former title contender Joseph Benavidez battles Dustin Ortiz. Benavidez opened at -405, Ortiz +285, and there has been a trickle of action on Ortiz to drop the price by five cents. I agree with the little action that came in on Ortiz early as I think Benavidez is being overvalued here. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still picking him to win, but I just think Ortiz has a better chance to win than the line indicates and can’t blame anyone who takes a shot on the dog here. Matt Wiman vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg In a lightweight bout, Matt Wiman returns to the cage to take on Isaac Vallie-Flagg. Wiman opened at -230, Vallie-Flagg +170, and so far there has been no movement in the line. I think the line is pretty accurate here, if not slightly too much in Wiman’s favor. I do lean towards him winning the bout, but with a two-year layoff this one does scream pass as far as a bet goes.
