MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Invicta FC 9 featherweight Amanda Bell as she prepares for her bout tonight (Nov. 1, 2014) against Maria Hougaard Djursa at the Rivercenter in Davenport, Iowa.
“The Ladykiller” feels like she’s a rare breed in women’s MMA due to the fact that she embraces a darker side of a fighter’s mentality rather than just treating it like a sport:
“I feel like I’m something that’s genuinely unique. Myself and my coach are very nice people but once we get in the cage, a switch gets flipped that’s very dangerous. I think that’s a side of girls that they’re lacking to tap into. It’s that animal instinct, tough to explain but I feel it more as I get closer to the fight. It’s like that inner-lying beast. It’s a spiritual thing. I think girls are too much into the drilling and they’re too much caught in the athlete side rather than that harder side.”
