Bellator 130 took place tonight at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kansas, and the card overall proved to be a dandy as it featured a number of great finishes and surprising performances from a number of fighters. Overall from a betting perspective, six favorites won and two underdogs cashed based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Emanuel Newton defeated Linton Vassell via fifth-round submission (rear-naked choke) to defend the Bellator light heavyweight championship. Vassell controlled the fight with his ground game early on and nearly finished the fight on multiple occasions, but Newton showed incredible heart and survived until the later rounds, where he took over and finally got the finish. With the win, Newton cashed as a -300 favorite (bet $300 to win $100) while Vassell closed as a +270 dog (bet $100 to win $270) In a heavyweight bout, Bobby Lashley defeated Karl Etherington via first-round TKO (punches). Etherington slipped on the mat and Lashley took advantage of it, throwing a number of heavy punches to his opponent’s head to win the fight. Lashley was -1000, while Etherington was +800. In a women’s bantamweight bout, Marloes Coenen defeated Annalisa Bucci via third-round submission (rear-naked choke). Coenen dominated the first two rounds with her grappling before finally getting the finish early in the third. Coenen won as a -800 favorite and Bucci lost as a +635 underdog. In a featherweight bout, Darrion Caldwell defeated Anthony Dizy via unanimous decision (30-27 x 3). In this preliminary-card bout, Caldwell won as a -485 favorite, while Dizy lost as a +350 dog. In a welterweight bout, Sam Oropeza defeated Gary Tapusoa via first-round TKO (punches). In this preliminary-card bout, Opopeza closed at -390 and Tapusoa closed at +300. In a lightweight bout, David Rickels deeated. Davi Ramos via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). In this dark match, Rickels closed at -165 while Ramos closed at +135. Underdogs That Won In a lightweight bout, Dave Jansen defeated Rick Hawn via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27 x 2). Jansen used a volume leg kicking attack to batter Hawn on the feet and earn a clear-cut decision nod on the judges’ scorecards. Jansen closed as a +165 underdog while Hawn was a -175 favorite at close. In a lightweight bout, Aaron Derrow defeated Nate Jolly via unanimous decision (29-28 x 3). In this preliminary-card bout, Jolly lost as a -165 favorite while Derrow won as a +135 dog.
