UFC 178 Date: September 27, 2014 Arena: MGM Grand Garden Arena City: Las Vegas, NV UFC 178 will be live on Pay Per View this tonight (Sept. 27, 2014) at 10pm ET with a five-fight main card, with televised preliminary action kicking off at 8pm ET on FOX Sports 1. If interested in wagering on these proposition plays, or any other plays for this fight card, these lines will be available to you at Several Bookmakerss. My prop plays UFC 178 in Las Vegas are: Featherweight bout: Conor McGregor (-280) vs Dustin Poirier (+255) McGregor by Submission (+3500) .4u to win 14u McGregor prefers to strike but he is very well-versed in the submission game, and trains regularly with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace Gunnar Nelson. Poirier has been defeated by submission before, and in this contest, he is facing a fighter who is very skilled in that department, so I think him losing by submission is a very realistic possibility. At the current huge underdog betting line of +3500, I love it for a little stab, as I see tremendous value in the line. Bantamweight bout: Dominick Cruz (-475) vs Takeya Mizugaki (+420) Cruz by Decision (-160) 1.6u to win 1u I believe this is the most likely outcome to this match-up and much, much greater than any other possible outcome, so at the current betting line of -160, I really like it for a play. Lightweight bout: James Krause (+340) vs Jorge Masvidal (-380) Krause +3.5 (+115) 1u to win 1.15u I favor Masvidal to get his hand raised, most likely via decision, but I think this fight will be closer than the betting odds currently indicate. Krause is a very game opponent and has an unorthodox style which is not easy to prepare for. I think he will succeed in giving Masvidal at least a little bit of trouble, likely enough so to win at least one round on the judges’ scorecards. I could see him straight-up winning the fight, by finish or decision, but should he lose, I think he will manage to take one round more times than not. I don’t see Masvidal completely dominating him for all 15 minutes of action, and expect this to be a competitive scrap in the UFC’s 155-pound division. Welterweight bout: Patrick Cote (+345) vs Stephen Thompson (-385) Cote +3.5 (+170) 1u to win 1.7u I think this fight is going to be a lot closer than the odds indicate, and even like the huge underdog’s chances of getting the upset. However, should Cote lose the fight as expected, I think there is a good chance he manages to win one of the three rounds, so this feels like a good play to make, especially at the current betting price of +170.
