Bellator 123 took place tonight at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, and the card overall was a fun night of fights on Spike TV that went up against the UFC’s showing over on FS1. In total, all four favorites won based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Patricio Pitbull defeated Pat Curran via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46 x 2) to become the new Bellator featherweight champion. Pitbull used his superior striking and takedown defence to keep the fight standing and outstrike Curran en route to taking his title. Pitbull closed as a -135 favorite (bet $135 to win $100) while Curran was a +125 underdog (bet $100 to win $125). In a heavyweight bout, Cheick Kongo defeated Lavar Johnson via first-round submission (rear-naked choke). Kongo took down Johnson, beat him up, and then achieved a dominant position before finishing the fight with a cool submission. Kongo closed as a -290 favorite while Johnson was a +260 dog. In a light heavyweight bout, King Mo defeated Dustin Jacoby via second-round TKO (punches). Mo used his wrestling to take Jacoby down and hurt him with ground and pound on the mat before he finally unleashed enough violence to force a referee’s stoppage. Mo was a -525 favorite while Jacoby was a +450 dog. In a heavyweight bout, Bobby Lashley defeated Josh Burns via second-round submission (rear-naked choke). Lashley used his size and strength to bully Burns around the cage before finally finishing him in the second with a nice submission. Lashley was a -750 favorite while Burns was a +600 dog.
