Here is my preliminary card parlay for UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut: Lightweight bout: Rodrigo Damm (+265) vs Al Iaquinta (-385) Gabe’s Thoughts: Iaquinta is constantly improving and at this stage in his game, I believe he is the all-around better fighter in this 155-pound scrap. Their Jiu-Jitsu will cancel each other out, but I believe Iaquinta has the better wrestling and undoubtedly the superior striking, which is what I think will be his bread and butter in this specific match-up. I see him keeping this fight on the feet, where he will batter the Brazilian for three rounds of action en route to a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Aside from getting caught with something like he did against Mitch Clarke in his last outing, I think he should be safe to get his hand raised and ultimately back into the win column. This is surely Iaquinta’s fight to lose, and even at the current juicy betting line of -385, I do see enough value in him to include him as the first leg to my two-way parlay for the preliminary card of Friday night’s UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut. Gabe’s Call: Iaquinta by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Flyweight bout: Chris Beal (-265) vs Tateki Matsuda (+185) Gabe’s Thoughts: “The Real Deal” proved to be just that in his promotional debut, outstriking his opponent Patrick Williams on the feet until ultimately finishing him with a flying knee. It was a very impressive outing for Beal, who will be looking to make it 2-0 and remain undefeated as a pro against the Japanese veteran in Matsuda. I don’t think Matsuda will have much to offer Beal on the feet, as I expect Beal to use his advantages in speed and power to tool Matsuda on the feet. I won’t be surprised to see Beal earn a second consecutive Octagon finish in this bout, but I think his chances of earning this one by way of decision are more likely this time around. In any case, I am expecting another solid outing by Beal, who I predict will remain undefeated after Friday night. At the current betting line of -290, I do favor him for the second leg of my two-way parlay for the UFC Fight Night 50 preliminary card.
