UFC Fight Night 50 Date: September 5, 2014 Arena: Foxwoods Resort Casino City: Ledyard, CT UFC Fight Night 50 will be live this Friday night from the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT. The event will produce a 10-fight card, including a six fight main card that will be live on FOX Sports 1 at 9pm ET, with a preliminary card preceding it at 7pm ET on the very same channel. If interested in making this parlay, or any wagers for this fight card, you will be able to do so at Several Bookmakerss. Here is my main card parlay for UFC Fight Night 50: Heavyweight bout: Alistair Overeem (-525) vs Ben Rothwell (+415) Gabe’s Thoughts: Rothwell is a tough heavyweight who can take damage, but I live Overeem’s lethal kickboxing may prove to be too much for him. I think his only route to victory in this match-up is to score a knockout, similarly to how “Bigfoot” Silva and Travis Browne did over ‘Reem, whose chin I think is the only thing that could cost him this fight. That said, I am not counting on it. I don’t expect him to end up in any trouble in this bout, I think he will manage to make it his fight, entirely, as he did in his last outing against Frank Mir, who he dominated for 15 minutes of action to pick up a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. This is certainly Overeem’s fight to lose, and I am expecting him to walk away with another dominant victory, making him 2-0 inside the Octagon with his sights set on the UFC’s heavyweight gold. Gabe’s Call: Overeem by KO (liver kick, 1:53 round 1) Flyweight bout: John Moraga (+240) vs Justin Scoggins (-240) Gabe’s Thoughts: I believe Scoggins to be the superior mixed martial artist of the two in this match-up. Both of these flyweights are talented, all-around, but I think Scoggins’ grappling is on another level, and while Moraga possesses more power, I think it is Scoggins who is the more fluid striker, not to mention the quicker of the two. These 125-pounders are each coming off a loss and eager to get back to their winning ways, so I think they will both show up looking to fight on Friday night. There is a chance there could be a finish in this fight, but considering how durable and tough to finish these two flyweights are, I am favoring this one to hit the judges’ scorecards, where I feel Scoggins will have made the biggest impression. Gabe’s Call: Scoggins by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Overeem (-525) parlayed with Scoggins (-245) for -146 2.55u to win 1.75u
