UFC Fight Night 50 came to us live from Connecticut this past Friday night (Sept. 5, 2014), and with only nine scheduled bouts. It was a night of surprises and definitely one fight fans won’t soon forget. With the night of scraps is now behind us, so let’s take a look at which UFC Fight Night 50 fighters we may no longer see compete inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK: Rodrigo Damm After defeating Gaspar Medeiros via first round rear naked choke submission in his promotional debut, Damm has gone 2-3 inside the Octagon, with both of his wins being closely-contested decisions that could have easily gone the other way. The Brazilian is now on a two-fight skid, dropping a unanimous decision to the Dagestani Rashid Magomedov at The Ultimate Fighter Season 3 Finale three months ago in Brazil, then a third round TKO at the hands of The Ultimate Fighter season 15 finalist “Raging” Al Iaquinta at last night’s UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut. Damm was dominated in both outings and seems to be a fish out of water amongst the UFC’s 155-pounders, so I think he will be receiving his pink slip and heading back to the regional circuit. Chris Camozzi Camozzi came up short yet again, dropping a split decision to the Brazilian Rafael “Sapo” Natal at last night’s UFC Fight Night 50 in Connecticut. The loss puts Camozzi on a four-fight losing streak and all but guarantees that he will be released from the promotion. If you ask me, I think he should have been let go after his previous outing, which was another split decision loss to another Brazilian grappler in Bruno Santos. I was confident he would be receiving his pink slip after delivering such a poor performance in that match-up, but he is in the UFC’s good graces so they decided to give him another chance. Unfortunately, last night was not his night, either, so after previously being on a four-fight winning streak, he is now on a four-fight losing streak and facing certain contract termination. Camozzi’s last win came against Nick Ring via split decision at UFC 158, and I personally scored that bout for Ring, so in my eyes, he is on a five-fight skid.
