UFC Fight Night 48 Date: August 23, 2014 Arena: The Venetian Macau’s CotaiArena City: Macau, China Your Best Bets for UFC Fight Night 48’s ‘Fight of The Night’ UFC Fight Night 48 will be live from China this Saturday with a 10-fight card to be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. The four-fight main card will be live at 9am ET, with preliminary action getting going at 6:30am ET. I believe the best-value contenders for this prize are: Bisping/Le +225 — As long as this fight does not end very early, I think it has a solid chance of taking home the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. Both middleweights are talented strikers who like to keep things on the feet and get the job done there. Thus, I expect this battle to play out on the feet until somebody goes down. Bisping already owns three ‘Fight of the Night’ awards under his belt, while Le owns just one for his war against Wanderlei Silva in what was his Octagon debut. At +225, I could not blame anybody for playing this, though I would not advise risking more than half a unit on it. This is the evening’s main event, so as long there isn’t an early finish and it plays out on the feet as expected, I think Bisping and Le could very well highlight-reel themselves into earning the bonus. Woodley/Kim +275 This is my number one pick on the entire card to take home the Chinese evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. I expect both welterweights to come out looking for a definitive victory. Woodley will be looking to redeem himself after his poor outing against Rory MacDonald a couple of months ago, and Kim will hope to extend his knockout streak to three in a row. “Stun Gun” has turned a new leaf, going from grappler to knockout artist, so I expect him to keep that up. I think both Woodley and Kim will be looking to take each other’s heads off from the opening bell, and much like with the Bisping/Le fight, as long as there is very early finish, I think there is a good chance this fight takes home the prize. At +275, I do think there is enough value to warrant a play. Phillips/Dudieva +1000 This is my dark horse, and the fight/prop I see most value in. I think there is a very good chance that these women’s bantamweights produce an exciting fight; should that happen and the main card fail to deliver, this could be a lock to take home the prize. This is Phillips’ second time appearing inside the Octagon and would be her first time earning ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, should they earn the bonus. It would of course be the first time for Dudieva, as well, considering that she is making her promotional debut. I expect this to be a very fun fight, whether it goes the distance or not, and at +1000, I do think it deserves a stab.
