It will be a true human-chess-match when these middleweights step inside the Octagon tonight, and while Machida fights can often be boring, I think stylistically Weidman is an opponent Machida can’t have a boring fight with. I think every round of this fight is going to be entertaining, whether it only lasts a round or goes all five. Should these middleweights take home the bonus, it would mean the first time for the champion Weidman, while being the third for the challenger Machida, who earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors in his last outing against Gegard Mousasi and before that, in his last title fight against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Brimage/Doane +600 — This is an incredible match-up in the UFC’s bantamweight division and one I cannot wait to see. Both of these 135-pounders like to move forward and do damage. I think this will be mostly a war on the feet that goes to the judges’ scorecards more often than not. It’s tough to pick a winner in this fight, as I feel it is going to be a very competitive brawl. I feel these two have a great chance of taking home this bonus, and at +600, I think there’s good value. This will be Brimage’s first fight at bantamweight, after suffering a first round TKO at the hands of Conor McGregor in the Irishman’s promotional debut. It will be the second Octagon appearance for Doane; the Hawaiian is coming off a second round triangle-choke submission victory over fellow promotional newcomer Leandro Issa. Doane took ‘Submission of the Night’ honors for submitting the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and will look to claim another bonus in this bout. Should these two take home the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, it would mean the first time for both. In four Octagon outings, “The ‘Bama Beast” has yet to claim a bonus. Casey/Bush +1600 — My dark horse to take home the bonus. This is a middleweight scrap between two AXS TV champions who were recently booked for this match-up and are each coming off recent victories, both via impressive finish. Casey gave up his RFA middleweight strap to return to the Octagon, and Casey gave up his Legacy FC middleweight title to sign with the UFC, which has been his goal since he started fighting professionally. This is going to be the very first bout on the entire UFC 175 fight card and will be streaming live on UFC Fight Pass. I think there is a good chance this fight will be very entertaining, and at +1600, I feel there is a lot of value in this champion vs champion match-up. Should these two earn the bonus, it would of course mean the first time for both 185-pounders. Personally, I am a fan of both of these fighters and this is a fight I am really looking forward to. I would be happy to see them earn that $50,000 check.
