Bellator 121 is over and done with, and one of the worst MMA cards of the year on paper turned out to be a bit more fun than expected, but overall was still a very poor card. Bellator 121 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, Philipe Lins moved on to the semifinals of the Bellator summer series light heavyweight tournament with a first-round submission victory via neck crank over Austen Heidlage. Lins wasn’t able to get his arm under Heidlage’s neck, but the pressure on his opponent’s face was apparently too much as he was able to get the tapout. Lines cashed as a -350 favorite (bet $350 to win $100), while Heidlage lost as a +318 underdog (bet $100 to win $318). In a heavyweight bout, James Thompson defeated Eric Prindle via first-round TKO (punches). Thompson got Prindle to the ground early on and pounded him out for the quick stoppage. He scored as a -142 favorite, while Prindle lost as a +132 dog. In a non-tournament light heavyweight bout, Sokoudjou defeated Terry Davinney via first-round submission (rear-naked choke). There’s really not much to say here — the fight was a mismatch from the get-go and Sokoudjou won as expected. He cashed as a -345 favorite, while Davinney lost as a +315 dog. Bellator 121 Underdogs That Won In a light heavyweight tournament quarterfinal, Egidijus Valavicius defeated Carlos Eduardo via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) to move on to the semifinals. Eduardo started off the fight strong, getting takedowns in round one and in the early part of round two, but he fatigued and Valavicius did enough with his striking late in round two and in round three to earn the nod on the judges’ cards. He scored as a +188 underdog, while Eduardo lost as a -205 favorite. And in a light heavyweight bout that aired on the prelims, Kelly Anundson defeated Rodney Wallace via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) to advance to the semifinals of the tourney. Anundson cashed as a +140 dog, while Wallace lost as a -150 favorite.
