UFC Fight Night 41 Date: May 31, 2014 Arena: O2 World Berlin City: Berlin, Germany Middleweight bout: C.B. “The Doberman” Dolloway (+140) vs Francis “Limitless” Carmont (-160) Fight Breakdown: The co-main event for UFC Fight Night 41 will be a middleweight contest between C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway and Francis “Limitless” Carmont. “The Doberman” is currently the betting underdog at +140 ($100 to win $140) and “Limitless” is the favorite to win at -160 ($160 to win $100) at Several Bookmakerss. C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway (14-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) is set to make his 14th appearance inside the Octagon in a quick turnaround following a first round knockout of Cezar Ferreira at March’s UFC Fight Night 38. Dollaway has been showing major improvements in his all-around game in recent bouts, especially in the striking department. His striking defense looked good against Ferreira, as he shoulder rolled in defense against the cage during a flurry, and answered with a hook that sent the Brazilian to the canvas. “The Doberman” has shown that he possesses some serious power in his hands, and even came close to putting away Daniel Sarafian in their 2013 bout. My main concern with him is his chin, as he’s easily been rocked in the past, not to mention the fact that he’s suffered a pair of knockout defeats inside the Octagon. The 30-year old is a talented grappler with solid wrestling and an excellent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu game. He is the only fighter to win a UFC fight with a ‘Peruvian necktie’ submission, a move he used to submit current WSOF middleweight champion Jesse Taylor at UFC Fight Night 14 back in 2008. “The Doberman” trains out of Power MMA in Tempe, AZ and has great cardio. It wasn’t very good before but he has shown improvements in that department, as well, so I expect his conditioning to be spot-on as he gets ready for the third co-main event bout of his UFC career. Francis “Limitless” Carmont (22-8 MMA, 6-1 UFC) is coming off the first loss of his UFC career, which came against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at February’s UFC Fight Night 36. The Brazilian was unable to submit or T/KO Carmont, but he succeeded in outgrappling his way to a unanimous decision victory on all three judges’ scorecards. Carmont is a well-rounded mixed martial artist with good cardio who is very good at grinding his opponents en route to earning decisions, if not finding the submission finish. He is very big for the middleweight division, and that serves him well when he uses his offensive grappling. He often relies on his grappling in bouts when he finds himself at a striking disadvantage. He is generally a good striker, but also has good fight IQ, so he’s always aware of the best possible gameplan to use for securing a victory. Training out of the TriStar Gym in Montreal, Carmont is a well-conditioned athlete who will be prepared to go hard for three rounds against Dollaway in the second co-main event of his Octagon career. Gabe’s Prediction: I think Carmont is going to outmatch Dollaway practically everywhere, unless “The Doberman” continues to display drastic improvement. I feel this is a good match-up for Carmont to get back on the win column and back in the hunt for the UFC’s 185-pound gold. I see him outstriking Dollaway, as well as outwrestling him, en route to a decision victory. Gabe’s Call: “Limitless” by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Francis Carmont (-160) 4.4u to win 2.75u
