MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC 173 welterweight Jake Ellenberger as he prepares for his co-main event bout this Saturday (May 24, 2014) against Robbie Lawler at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The powerful 170-pounder is taking a new mental approach to his upcoming bout against Lawler and he’s hoping it pays big dividends this weekend:
“We’ve been through the fight more mentally than I have physically. I really wasn’t a believer until I sat down with him for 15 minutes. It’s all about why you do what you do, what motivates you, what makes people tick. I studied psychology in college when I was going to Nebraska Omaha and it’s a subject that always fascinated me. Being in tune with visualizing, playing out the fight and reacting and being more aware. It’s been able to help me a lot. I’ve really enjoyed being able to work with Ken [Baum] the last four months.”
