MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 39 heavyweight John Howard as he prepares for his main card bout this Friday (April 11, 2014) against Ryan LaFlare at the du Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The long-time veteran out of Boston has gone 2-0 in his most recent stint with the UFC, and he’s hoping to win his third straight bout as a considerable underdog this time around:
“People are counting me out. I don’t know why. It’s the funniest thing ever. They think because I came back to the UFC that I’m some old man and not in shape. I proved to the world twice. First of all, I went up a weight class to 185 which I shouldn’t have been, beat a great fighter in Uriah Hall, a guy who just retired Chris Leben. I beat that guy and then Siyar, one of the best kickboxers in the world. I out-kickboxed him. I don’t know why people are sleeping on me. If LaFlare thinks he can outwork me, he’s in for a reality check.”
