A number of prop bets opened up at Several Bookmakers this week for UFC 171, and for today’s MMA Odds and Ends I’ll give some suggestions of what props could be worth a bet. Myles Jury vs. Diego Sanchez goes three-round distance (-225) In one of the leading candidates for Fight of the Night, Myles Jury takes on Diego Sanchez in what should be a three-round war. Sanchez is extremely difficult to stop and Jury has never lost in his career, and I have a feeling this is going to be a very competitive fight that makes it all three rounds. The prop on the fight going the distance is -225, and I feel like there’s enough value on it for a bet. Ovince St-Preux vs Kikita Krylov doesn’t go three-round distance (-240) In a light heavyweight bout, Ovince St-Preux takes on Nikita Krylov in a fight that is going to end with a knockout or submission either way due to Krylov’s kill-or-be-killed style. I think this fight ends in round one so for the prop on this fight not making it all three rounds being -240 is actually a pretty good bet, and definitely something that is worth putting in a parlay. Kelvin Gastelum vs. Rick Story goes three-round distance (-180) In a welterweight matchup that could shoot the winner into the top 10, Kelvin Gastelum of TUF 17 takes on Octagon veteran Rick Story in what should be a very exciting fight. I think this fight is going to be very competitive and I think it’s going to make it the full three rounds, so at only -180 the prop on this fight making it 15 minutes might actually be a less riskier bet than taking a side. Justin Scoggins vs. Will Campuzano goes UNDER 2.5 rounds (+150) In a flyweight bout on the prelims, Justin Scoggins takes on Will Campuzano in what could be an exciting fight. Scoggins is a beast and a future world champ in my eyes, and while Campuzano is a tough guy I don’t think he’s going to be able to survive if Scoggins kicks him flush in the head. So for the prop on the fight to go UNDER 2.5 rounds at +150, I think it could be worth a bet. Daniel Pineda vs. Robert Whiteford doesn’t go three-round distance (-170) And in the very first fight of the night, Daniel Pineda takes on Robert Whiteford in a three-round featherweight fight. Both of these men are finishers who rarely go the distance and so putting them in the cage together, I just can’t see any way this fight makes it 15 minutes. At only -170, I definitely think the prop on this fight not making it the full three rounds is worth a bet, as I feel the line should be much closer to 3-to-1.
