MMA Oddsbreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 111 featherweight Pat Curran as he prepares for his title fight rematch next Friday night (March 14, 2014) against Daniel Straus at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana.
The former Bellator featherweight champion has been dealing with personal issues in the last year, and opened up to MMAOddsBreaker with some very personal information:
“I went through a lot leading into that fight [against Straus]. It’s not just that I had an off night. There were a lot of things leading into that. A lot of stress, a lot of extra stress that I went through that really played a toll on me. I’ve been suffering through a lot of depression and anxiety issues. I went and saw a doctor and I’m on the right medication for that. Since I started that, it’s really, really helped. It opened my eyes, cleared the air. The clouds went away and its’ just been so much better since I went to this doctor and started getting help. My cousin, my family has been really supportive and helpful. This is the first time I’ve come out and admitted this. I know a lot of fighters have the same issues, but I just recently found this out. I’m just happy to get that out there and get it off my chest. Now I’m refocused and pissed off that I let that happen to myself. That loss has changed me a lot. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I’m definitely a lot stronger for this.”
