UFC 169 took place tonight in Newark, N.J, and the card was overall fairly exciting as it featured a number of competitive bouts as well as an opening main card fight that was one of the best back-and-forth bouts in recent memory. In the co-main event of the evening, Jose Aldo defeated Ricardo Lamas via unanimous decision. Aldo had his way with Lamas to win as a massive -750 favorite, while Lamas lost as a +600 dog. In a heavyweight bout, Alistair Overeem defeated Frank Mir via decision. Overeem cruised to a decision and cashed as a -420 fav, while Mir lost as a +375 dog. In a flyweight bout, Ali Bagautinov defeated John Lineker via decision. Bagautinov earned himself a flyweight title shot as he cashed as a -145 fav while Lineker lost as a +135 dog. In a flyweight bout, Chris Cariaso defeated Danny Martinez via decision. Cariaso deserved to win the decision as a -170 fav, while Martinez lost as a +160 dog. In a lightweight bout, Al Iaquinta defeated Kevin Lee via decision. Iaquinta did just enough to win the decision as a -150 fav, while Lee lost as a live +140 dog. In a middleweight bout, Clint Hester defeated Andy Enz via decision. Hester looked fantastic and won as a -200 fav while Enz lost as a +185 underdog. In a lightweight bout, Rashid Magomedov defeated Tony Martin via decision in one of the best comebacks in sometime. Magomedov mounted a great comeback after being dominated in round one to to win rounds two and three and won as a -140 fav, while Martin lost as a +130 dog. UFC 169 Betting Underdogs That Won In a lightweight bout, Abel Trujillo defeated Jamie Varner via first-round KO in a ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate. These two engaged in some high-level fisticuffs before Trujillo became the first person to ever knock Varner out with a crazy punch in the second round. Trujillo cashed as a +105 dog and Varner lost as a -115 fav. In a lightweight contest, Alan Patrick defeated John Makdessi via controversial decision. Makdessi deserved the decision and was absolutely robbed by the judges here. Still, Patrick cashed at +115 and Makdessi lost at -125. In a middleweight affair, Nick Catone defeated Tom Watson via split decision. Catone outwrestled Watson to win as a +115 dog, while Watson lost as a -125 favorite. In a welterweight bout, Neil Magny defeated Gasan Umalatov via unanimous decision. Magny used his jab to outbox the Russian and win as a +135 dog, while Umalatov lost as a -145 fav.
